Early Career Best Moments

Jade Corkill practically grew up in the saddle. He spent most of his childhood roping on his family’s ranch in Nevada and his early love of the sport made him certain he wanted to pursue professional roping one day. Jade got his chance when he burst onto the professional team roping scene in 2006. Fresh out of high school, Jade was eager to prove himself.

His very first partner was Matt Tyler who, with 21 years of professional experience, took him on as an eager apprentice. Together they won the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour and Average iitle at Rodeo Austin, Texas. Jade went on to win the PRCA Team Roping (heeler) Rookie of the Year for 2006, not a bad way to close out his very first season. Jade also got advice early in his career from the likes of Kory Koontz and took inspiration from him and Clay Cooper to help develop and hone his own style.

Jade continued to see success in his early professional career. In 2008 he finished second in the world standings to fellow Nevadan Randon Adams. In 2009, he and partner Chad Masters won Round 9 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo with a world-record time of 3.3 seconds and placed in three additional rounds. Accolades like this made people take notice of his skills and predict that Jade Corkill was one to watch.

Major Wins and World Titles

2012 was a great year for Jade. He shared first place in Round 1 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and won Round 10 in a time of 4.0. He also placed in 4 other rounds in between culminating in winning his first gold buckle and claiming the coveted title “world champion”. Jade also went on to win the team roping event at 8 more noteworthy Rodeos across the USA that year with several different partners.

Jade continued his winning streak in 2013 with back-to-back world championship titles. This time, he tied for the win in Round 7 of the Wrangler NFR with a time of 4.1 seconds. Jade placed in 4 other rounds to secure the gold belt for team roping (heeler). That season Jade Corkill won first place 8 more times at various Team Roping events.

Finally, 2014 saw a total of 4 total Rodeo wins. The most prestigious of these was of course winning the average title and his third gold buckle at the Wrangler NFR by placing in seven out of 10 rounds. He also set a single-season earnings record for his event.

Jade Corkill’s other notable wins include the 2012 Reno (Nev.) Rodeo; the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days in 2013, 2021, and 2022; and the Sheridan WYO Rodeo in 2022 along with countless other stellar performances across his long career.

Current World Standing

As of the time of writing, Jade Corkill holds 3 World Titles (2012, 2013, 2014), 1 Wrangler NFR Average Title (2014), and is a 13-time Wrangler NFR Qualifier (2008-15, 2017, 2019-2022). He is also ranked 3rd in the 2022 world standings and 7th in the 2022 Wrangler NFR standings. Going by numbers alone, it is clear to see why Jade Corkill is a legend. He has a team roping career that anyone would be proud of.

Hear What Others Are Saying About X Factor Roping

Brad, Texas

Being able to watch the slow mo videos have really been a blessing for me. It’s helped me learn my delivery for heeling. Along with how and where my horse needs to be. Some nights my girlfriend and I will break down videos to help us out. She has really progressed in breakaway roping because of watching your videos.

Lauren, California

X Factor has completely changed my mindset in my practice, how I compete and shaped a lot of my horsemanship while roping. I have ridden horses, trained, and barrel raced all my life, but within the past 3 years I have started to rope. I had a young horse I knew I couldn't finish in the barrels because she isn't very fast, but would make a great heel horse. So I set off on an adventure of training a rope horse, all while also learning to rope myself! Lucky me, my horse is a natural at reading cattle and watching a corner, but it was still a learning curve. My X Factor membership purchase was a turning point for my positioning, warm up for my heel horse and my body control translating to my horse when delivering. X Factor was also when my "self teaching" of how to heel really took off! Watching videos over and over, taking notes and exploring all of the different pros to learn from was what really helped me start to figure out my swing, timing and delivery.

It has helped my horsemanship out a lot. My favorite part about the site is by far the Facebook coaching group. Ryan Motes series on advancing through the different levels of heeling has helped me the most. My mental game has improved significantly.. And it has changed the way I practice I used to just run steers now I practice to accomplish something.

Daniel, Mississippi

I love X Factor, it has helped me work on everything from dummy work to horsemanship. I’ve roped and been doing something wrong, go home and find my problem on the website. I’ve started roping in the practice pin a lot different where I use to just go make runs I now have a goal on every steer I run. Thank you, keep doing what y’all are doing!!

Blaine, Mississippi

It has help me tremendously with my horsemanship, the way I practice, and also how approach certain situation. My favorite part of the site is all the different categories you can choose from to work on. Love it

Jordynn, Canada

X Factor has helped me probably the most in my horsemanship which is precisely why I was interested in becoming a member to begin with. So mission accomplished. My favourite parts about the site is the horsemanship videos. And the videos of the ropings. I would say the Joseph Harrison and the Ryan Motes videos have helped me the most. Both a great horsemen and I like how they Really break down what they’re doing with their colts I practice completely different than I used to. And with me being a colt starter and rope horse trainer I take a lot from the horse training videos. And really appreciate them being available.
